Star Trek Convention Disaster Documentary in Production

The Con of Wrath: The Craziest Convention Ever! is being directed by Larry Nemecek, who attended the 1982 HoustonCon, with Nacelle producing.

A new documentary about a Star Trek convention that went wrong is in production. Titled The Con of Wrath: The Craziest Convention Ever!, the film is directed by Larry Nemecek, a longtime Star Trek fan and author, according to Collider.

Nacelle Corporation is producing the documentary. Nemecek executive produces alongside Nacelle head Brian Volk-Weiss, Bailee Rackie, and Davina Dobrovech.

The first poster for the documentary has been revealed. No release date has been announced.

The film examines the 1982 HoustonCon convention. Back in 1982, Star Trek's fanbase and the general public had embraced that year's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and HoustonCon arranged for almost the entire cast of the film to attend, including William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Walter Koenig, DeForest Kelly, Kirstie Alley, and producer Harve Bennett.

The event, dubbed "Ultimate Fantasy," featured a one-act play written by Walter Koenig, a laser light show, and a rotating Trek-logo-shaped stage. Nemecek attended the ill-fated convention and has spent decades investigating it.
