Devsisters Taps Big Shot Pictures for Cookie Run Animated Film
Big Shot Pictures will lead production on the feature, with Devsisters shaping the film's core creative direction.
Devsisters announced on the 12th that it is partnering with Big Shot Pictures to produce a feature animated film based on the Cookie Run IP.
The two companies are aiming for a global theatrical release in 2029, which would coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Cookie Run IP. Big Shot Pictures will lead production, while Devsisters will participate in designing the core creative direction of the film.
Big Shot Pictures is a Hollywood studio founded by Brian Robbins, who previously served as co-CEO of Paramount and head of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. The studio has a first-look theatrical distribution deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment and has received strategic investment from Sony Pictures, Greycroft, MarcyPen Capital Partners, ValueAct Capital, and CAA.
Cookie Run has secured over 300 million cumulative users across 248 countries, and the IP's combined cumulative revenue exceeds 1.5 trillion Korean won.
An IP built over nearly two decades
Cookie Run began with the mobile running game OvenBreak, released in 2009, before Cookie Run for Kakao in 2013 helped establish the IP's foundation. Subsequent titles expanded into RPG, puzzle adventure, and co-op action genres, and in 2026 Cookie Run: OvenSmash and Cookie Run: Crumbull were released. As of 2025, North America is the largest market by combined Cookie Run IP revenue, and Cookie Run: Kingdom was the only standalone game included in YouTube's top 10 popular trends in the US.
