Corenswet Likens Man of Tomorrow to Empire Strikes Back Opening

David Corenswet says the DCU sequel opens with established relationships, comparing it to the start of The Empire Strikes Back.

David Corenswet compared the upcoming DCU film Man of Tomorrow to the opening of The Empire Strikes Back in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, according to comingsoon.net.

Corenswet said Man of Tomorrow will feature more established relationships between Superman and Lex Luthor and between Superman and Lois Lane. He added that director James Gunn will put those relationships at risk in this second phase.

The film will force Superman and Lex Luthor into an uneasy alliance against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.

Returning cast and release date

Man of Tomorrow is directed by James Gunn and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Aaron Pierre and Xolo Maridueña will return, while Adria Arjona is rumored to make her DCU debut in the film.

Last year's Superman highlighted David Corenswet's Superman, his bond with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and his rivalry with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).
