Tim Burton and Mike Johnson's 2005 stop-motion film Corpse Bride is now streaming on HBO Max, according to Polygon. The film can be watched without a trip to a theater.
Corpse Bride runs 77 minutes, according to Polygon's headline. The voice cast includes Johnny Depp as Victor Van Dort, Emily Watson as Victoria Everglot and Helena Bonham Carter as Emily, the corpse bride.
The film was Burton's first stop-motion directing credit. He made it while also working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, leaving Johnson to handle day-to-day production. John August was among the film's co-screenwriters.
Burton had produced earlier stop-motion work, including The Nightmare Before Christmas in 1993 and James and the Giant Peach in 1996. He based Corpse Bride on "The Finger," a Jewish tale by Howard Schwartz that appears in "Lilith's Cave: Jewish Tales of the Supernatural."

The film joins a stop-motion lineage that includes the output of studio Laika, whose titles include Coraline and ParaNorman, as well as Wildwood, directed by Travis Knight.
