Crystal Lake Showrunner Defends Jason's Cockroach DNA Twist
Brad Caleb Kane tells Dread Central he sees the corporate explanation as science fact, not science fiction, and accepts some fans prefer a supernatural Jason.
Crystal Lake showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has publicly defended the series' twist that Jason Voorhees was infused with cockroach DNA by his father Elias, who worked for a corporation named Bellflower, according to slashfilm.com.
Kane told Dread Central that he considers the explanation science fact rather than science fiction, focused on corporations rather than the government. He said he accepts that some fans prefer a supernatural Jason and is willing to take criticism for the decision.
The twist places Elias Voorhees, played by Hamish Linklater, at the center of the origin story, with Linda Cardellini playing Pam Voorhees.
Crystal Lake is streaming on Peacock.
