Culpables Took Three Years to Sell, Says Pokeepsie CEO at IberSeries

At Madrid's IberSeries confab, Carolina Bang revealed it took three years to sell Culpables before Prime Video greenlit the films. Steve Matthews also addressed the Banijay-All3Media merger.

MADRID — Pokeepsie CEO Carolina Bang said at the IberSeries industry confab in Madrid that it took three years to sell Culpables before Prime Video greenlit the films. The revelation came during a panel discussion at the Spanish industry event, where Bang spoke about the long journey from pitch to production.

Banijay's Steve Matthews, speaking at the same event, said he has no concerns about the Banijay-All3Media merger affecting creativity. He added that there is a lot of work to do in the UK given the number of labels based there.

Earlier this year, Prime Video said the Culpables films, based on Mercedes Ron's books, have been watched by over 100 million viewers. Mercedes Ron also published a fourth instalment in the Culpables book series earlier this year.

Pokeepsie has seen quick success elsewhere: its title Drawn Together (Enfrentados) went straight to the top of the Prime Video chart upon release. The panel was reported by Deadline.
