Curtis Lum to Topline Zombie Comedy New Diamond Restaurant

Curtis Lum is set to lead the indie horror-comedy New Diamond Restaurant, which is now in production in British Columbia.

The film marks the feature debut of writer-director Milton Ng. It blends zombie horror, action and family comedy, with Lum playing Aaron Chan, who comes home to tell his father he no longer wants to take over the family restaurant — just before a zombie outbreak traps the family inside.

The cast also includes Vincent Cheng, Phoebe Miu, Milton Ng, Alannah Ong, Aleks Paunovic, Morgan Taylor Campbell and Lochlyn Munro.

Ng is producing alongside Mike Morrison, with Lum serving as executive producer. Jessica Ally, Jared Cheer, Natasha Jung and Paolo Valdes are co-producers through Dear Hero Studios / New Diamond Film Inc.

The production is backed by Telefilm Canada and Creative BC, with Canadian distribution handled by Photon Films, as reported by Deadline.

What else Lum has been working on

Earlier this year, Lum returned for the third season of Netflix's The Night Agent and appeared in Jonathan Glatzer's dark Silicon Valley comedy The Audacity for AMC/AMC+. His past credits include Apple TV's Invasion, The Agency: Central Intelligence for Paramount+ and the Freeform drama Siren.

Next year, he is set to appear on ABC's The Rookie: North and Season 3 of Prime Video's Cross, as well as alongside Cynthia Erivo, Teo Yoo and others in the Lionsgate action thriller Karoshi.
