Erivo said the film should spark debate about consent and how a "no" is received, during a Screen Talk at the 70th BFI London Film Festival.
Cynthia Erivo spoke about her new film Prima Facie at a Screen Talk during the 70th BFI London Film Festival on Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the film, Erivo plays a lawyer who becomes a rape victim.
Erivo said she hopes the film will spark debate about consent, how a "no" is received, and preconceived notions about how Black women experience pain.
She also praised her co-star Daniel Ings and the film's intimacy coordinator.
Background
In October 2025, Erivo told THR that working on the film would make her "feel sick and angry."
The BFI London Film Festival runs through Oct. 18.
