Danny Trejo Wraps Daily Wire Thriller 'Pawn Shop'
Trejo plays a Minneapolis store owner caught in a standoff with ICE, protesters, Antifa and MS-13, and reportedly did not know The Daily Wire was producing it.
Danny Trejo has finished filming the action-thriller Pawn Shop, the Daily Wire production in which he stars as the owner of a Minneapolis store caught in a standoff involving ICE, anti-ICE protesters, Antifa and MS-13 gang members, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
A source close to the production said Trejo did not know the film was being produced by Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire when he took the role. The source also said Trejo pushed back on his lines during production and had some material changed.
Protesters appeared at the film's set during production.
The Daily Wire's recent slate includes the 2023 anti-trans comedy Lady Ballers. In 2024, Trejo voiced a character on the outlet's cartoon Mr. Birchum, a job the source said he took because he knew creator Adam Carolla.
Trejo's earlier credits include a 2015 Super Bowl ad for Snickers in which he appeared as a Mexican Marcia Brady.
