Dark Sky Films Lands U.S. Rights to Emirati Horror 'The Vile'
Dark Sky Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the Emirati horror film The Vile, which won Best Horror Feature at Fantastic Fest.
Dark Sky Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the Emirati horror film The Vile, the company announced. A U.S. release plan will be announced at a later date.
The deal was negotiated by Justin DiPietro of MPI Media Group and Jason Ishikawa of Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmakers, according to Deadline.
The Vile premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin in September 2025, where it won Best Horror Feature. It continued its international festival run at Sitges, BFI London and Busan.
The film is the first Arabic-language feature produced under the partnership between Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios. It stars Bdoor Mohammad, Sarah Taibah, Iman Tarik, Jasem Alkharraz and Samira Al Wahaibi.
Majid Al Ansari directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Johnnie Alward. The film is produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy and Rami Yasin, with Mohamed Hefzy and Yasir Al Yasiri serving as executive producers. It marks Al Ansari's return to feature directing following his debut Zinzana and his work on the Netflix series Paranormal.
