Dark Star Pictures Takes North America on Horror Film Motherwitch
The Cypriot horror feature, directed by Minos Papas, also sold to Poland, France and Spain ahead of its Sitges screening.
Dark Star Pictures has acquired North American rights to the horror film Motherwitch, according to Deadline. The deal was brokered by Arnaud Chevalier of B-Rated International Sales.
Additional sales have been closed for Poland (Velvet Spoon) and for France and Spain (Shadowz).

Motherwitch is the third feature from U.S.-based Greek-Cypriot director Minos Papas, following Shuttering (2009) and Behind the Mirror (2015). It was lead-produced by Nicosia-based Caretta Films and shot on location in Cyprus, in a remote uninhabited 15th-century village.
The film is a co-production with the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and was supported by the Republic of Cyprus and the Film Agency of North Macedonia. It world premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam earlier this year and has since played in more than 20 festivals, and it recently received a gala screening in Nicosia ahead of going on theatrical release on the island at the end of October.
