Darth Vader Lightsaber Heads to Auction, Could Fetch $1 Million
Heritage Auctions will sell the Darth Vader lightsaber from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi at its Ultimate Star Wars Auction on Nov. 12.
A lightsaber used by Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi is going up for auction, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The prop is part of Heritage Auctions' Ultimate Star Wars Auction on Nov. 12 and is expected to fetch at least $1 million.
The weapon is one of the most recognizable props from the original Star Wars trilogy, appearing in two of the three films that followed the 1977 original.
Star Wars props have drawn large sums at auction before. In July, a Luke Skywalker lightsaber from The Empire Strikes Back sold for $3.75 million. A previous Vader lightsaber from the same film sold for $3.6 million last year.
Other Star Wars items have also commanded high prices. In 2023, Red Leader's X-wing fighter miniature sold for $3.1 million, while a full-size R2-D2 droid brought $2.8 million. Han Solo's blaster from A New Hope sold for around $1 million.
