DOC NYC will hold its 17th edition in Manhattan from November 11 to 19, 2026, with online programming continuing through November 29, the festival announced. The Hummingbird Paints Fragrant Songs, directed by Èlia Gasull Balada and Matteo Norzi, will open the festival, while Totality, directed by Kate Davis and David Heilbroner, will close it.
Union Town, directed by Barbara Kopple, will serve as the centerpiece film. The Special Presentations program will include the world premieres of Primetime Preacher$ and Palace of Gold.
The main slate comprises 115 feature-length documentaries, including 26 world premieres and 27 U.S. premieres. In all, the festival will present over 200 films, with dozens of events and filmmakers expected in person at certain screenings.
The short list, winner's circle and select encore sections will be announced at a later date. Jaie LaPlante is the artistic director of DOC NYC, according to Variety.
