The selection spans varying stages of development: eight animation projects, 10 fiction features, 10 documentary features and seven series. Fourteen African nations are represented among the projects, and 28 of the 35 have women in key creative roles.

The event opens with a screening of Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo's Rwandan post-genocide drama "Ben'Imana," which won the Caméra d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The DFM also includes a showcase of five projects from the African Producers Accelerator. Highlights include "Borsel" from Jacobs and Delmar, "Galatians" from Michael Omonua and Abba Makama, "A Fantastic Tale" from Vincho Nchogu, and "The Return" from Zoey Martinson.

Partnerships with the Palestine Film Institute, Climate Story Labs and Habesha Creative will support additional projects seeking partners.
