Fielder secured A24 kill switch on Holmes documentary, Oppenheim says

Co-director Lance Oppenheim said A24 agreed to let the filmmakers walk away and deliver nothing if You Can See Everything found no story.

Nathan Fielder negotiated a kill switch with A24 before filming You Can See Everything, co-director Lance Oppenheim has said. The provision would have allowed the directors to abandon the project and deliver nothing if they found no story, and A24 agreed to it.

Oppenheim described the arrangement in an interview with IndieWire, saying it gave the filmmakers freedom from oversight and pressure. Fielder, speaking to Wired Magazine, said the deal meant he did not have to hold back with Elizabeth Holmes or with A24.

You Can See Everything is the A24 documentary built around Holmes. Filming began with 34 days left before Holmes was set to go to prison.

A story already told elsewhere

Before the documentary went into production, Holmes' scandal had already been covered by a popular podcast, a best-selling book, an Alex Gibney documentary and the Hulu scripted series The Dropout.
