Fielder says Holmes called him from prison before film's release

The director said the call was his first contact with Elizabeth Holmes in more than six months, according to Variety.

Nathan Fielder said Elizabeth Holmes called him from prison shortly before the theatrical release of You Can See Everything, the documentary he directed with Lance Oppenheim, according to Variety. The call marked the first contact between Fielder and Holmes in more than six months.

During the conversation, Holmes told Fielder “I trust you” more than once, Variety reported. The film follows Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, in the weeks before Holmes began serving her sentence.

You Can See Everything, distributed by A24, grossed $15 million in its domestic debut.

How the filmmakers got access

Fielder became involved after hearing that Holmes and Evans had failed to pitch a documentary about themselves to A24, according to the background reported by Variety. The filmmakers then moved in with Holmes and Evans 34 days before Holmes went to prison.

A24 released a teaser trailer for the film before it screened for press. Evans appeared on the All-In podcast the day before the film opened in theaters.

Holmes is serving a federal prison sentence after being convicted of fraud.
