Fincher Cut 60 Pages From Tarantino's Cliff Booth Script

David Fincher trimmed Quentin Tarantino's 230-page first draft to about 60 pages, the directors said in a joint Empire interview.

David Fincher cut roughly 60 pages from Quentin Tarantino's first draft of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the two filmmakers revealed in a joint interview with Empire. The draft Fincher read ran 230 pages.

The finished film runs approximately two hours and 20 minutes. It is set in 1977, eight years after Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and follows Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth working as a Hollywood fixer.

The film will have an exclusive two-week global IMAX run beginning Nov. 25 before premiering on Netflix Dec. 23.

Tarantino had decided against directing the project himself because he did not want a sequel to be his 10th and potentially final movie. Pitt, who worked with Fincher on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, helped bring Fincher onto the project.

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood was released in 2019 and starred Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie. Pitt won the Academy Award for best supporting actor in 2020 for his role as Cliff Booth, and the film received 10 Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director.
