George Maguire to Play Jack Sparrow in London Pirates Stage Show
Maguire, an Olivier winner for Billy Elliot, leads Secret Cinema and TodayTix's immersive production, opening March 10, 2027.
George Maguire has been cast as Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure, the London stage production mounted by Secret Cinema and TodayTix, according to screenrant.com. Maguire is a 35-year-old English actor who won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Billy Elliot.
The production blends clips from 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl with explorable setpieces, live actors, a live band and stunts, and each performance runs about two hours. Previews begin February 16, 2027, with the show opening March 10 at Secret Cinema's Greenwich Peninsula theater.
Maguire leads a cast that includes Phil Daniels as Captain Barbossa, Lily Blunsom as Elizabeth Swann, Harrison Wilde as Will Turner and Gleanne Purcell-Brown as Anamaria.
The production has already added six weeks to its run due to demand. Johnny Depp originated Jack Sparrow in 2003's The Curse of the Black Pearl, opposite Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, and played the role in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films, most recently 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales, which has not received a sequel. A sixth film and a Margot Robbie spinoff have been discussed over the years but remain in development.
