Glassriver's Elma Sets October 15 Debut on Síminn

The Icelandic crime thriller, adapted from Eva Björg Ægisdóttir's books, also heads to MIPCOM Cannes alongside Glassriver's new procedural NCU.

Glassriver has announced that its Icelandic crime thriller series Elma will launch on Síminn's streaming service in Iceland on October 15, 2026, according to Deadline.

The series is adapted from Eva Björg Ægisdóttir's book series and is set in the port town of Akranes, Iceland.

Alongside the Elma launch, Glassriver will present a new series, NCU, at MIPCOM Cannes. The company describes NCU as Iceland's first scripted procedural series.

Background

Elma is a co-production with Belgium's Lunamine and is represented globally by Mediawan, with a pre-sale to Finland's MTV. Its creative team includes directors Katrín Björgvinsdóttir and Þóra Hilmarsdóttir and showrunner Karen Björg Eyfjörð Þorsteinsdóttir. Glassriver's scripted slate also includes Avalanche, Konráð, Reykjavik Noir, Hot Stuff and Tango Metal, while NCU joins titles such as Masquerade, Konrad, Reykjavik Noir and Manifesto.
