Google Frightgeist lists Buddy on horror and costume trends

Google launched its Frightgeist report on October 14, 2026, tracking the year's top trending Halloween search trends, according to bloody-disgusting.com. The report covers both Halloween costumes and horror movies.

Buddy, Casper Kelly's killer unicorn horror-comedy, appears on both the top trending horror movies list and the top trending Halloween costumes list, where it is searched as "Buddy the Unicorn." Kane Parsons' Backrooms also appears on both lists, listed among costumes as "Captain Clark from Backrooms."

On the couples side, Nikki and Bear from Obsession is the third trending search for Couples Halloween Costumes, and Nikki from Obsession appears on the top trending Halloween costumes list. Obsession was directed by Curry Barker. Michael Myers made the list for Kids Halloween Costumes.

The horror movies list includes Brute, referring to the indie film Brute 1976, which was released earlier this year. Arachnophobia is the only movie on the horror movies list that was not released this year; the 1990s classic has recently been the subject of remake talks.

Obsession was released much earlier in the year, and its conversation had waned, which likely kept it off the top trending horror movies list.
