Gunn Denies Supergirl Casting and Batman Part 2 Rumors
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn called reports that Milly Alcock lost the Supergirl role and that Matt Reeves exited The Batman Part 2 "BS."
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has publicly denied rumors that Milly Alcock was removed from her Supergirl role and that other projects in the DC universe were in trouble, dismissing the claims as "BS," according to polygon.com.
Gunn also rejected reports that Matt Reeves is no longer directing The Batman Part 2 and that the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow had a poorly received test screening.
On the state of that project, Gunn said he showed fellow DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran his first director's cut a month early.
Alcock is set to return as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in Man of Tomorrow, which stars David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Aaron Pierre and Adria Arjona. The film is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.
Background
Gunn has faced intense fan scrutiny since launching the new DC cinematic universe. Last week Alcock scrubbed her Instagram account of mentions of the Supergirl film, which sparked speculation about her involvement. Supergirl is now streaming on HBO Max.
