Hammer Films Owner Eyes Revisiting Three Classic Horror Titles
John Gore, Hammer's new owner, told Variety he wants to revisit The Evil of Frankenstein, Countess Dracula and The Devil Rides Out.
John Gore, the British theater producer who now owns Hammer Films, said in an interview with Variety that he would like to revisit three Hammer classics: The Evil of Frankenstein, Countess Dracula and The Devil Rides Out. The comments were reported by Bloody Disgusting.
Gore also said in the same interview that it is very hard to contemplate a straight remake of a classic, suggesting any return to the titles would not be a direct shot-for-shot redo.
In addition to the older titles, Hammer Films is preparing to release a new original monster movie titled Ithaqua, with an expected arrival in early 2027.
The company has also completed a new 4K restoration of Horror of Dracula, which is set for a fresh release.
Background
The Evil of Frankenstein was originally released in 1964, The Devil Rides Out in 1968 and Countess Dracula in 1971.
