Hammer Films Plans Remakes With Scorsese After Unanswered 1990s Letter

Hammer owner John Gore said the studio never replied to a 1990s letter from Martin Scorsese, and now plans remakes of its classics with top directors.

Hammer Films' current owner John Gore has revealed that the company holds a letter from the 1990s in which Martin Scorsese wrote that he would love to make a Hammer film. According to comingsoon.net, Gore said Hammer never replied to Scorsese's letter.

Gore also said Hammer plans remakes of its classic movies with some of the greatest directors, including Scorsese. The letter and the remake plans were discussed as part of the studio's ongoing revival efforts.

Separately, Hammer's 4K restoration of its 1958 film Dracula will release in U.K. theaters this week. The restoration will premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles before releasing in U.S. theaters later this month.
