Hannah Waddingham Moves to Lead Actress Race for Ted Lasso Season 4

Hannah Waddingham will be campaigned for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso Season 4, according to Deadline, shifting from the supporting category she entered for the show's first three seasons. Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones, will continue to campaign as a supporting actress.

Waddingham plays Rebecca Welton, the owner of AFC Richmond. During the first three seasons she was submitted as Supporting Actress, earning three Emmy nominations in that category and winning in 2021. She also received two Golden Globe nominations in the Supporting TV Actress field and two Actor nominations in the combined Female Actor in a Comedy Series category.

Temple was nominated alongside Waddingham in the Supporting Actress In a Comedy Series Emmy category in each of the first three seasons. Over those seasons, Ted Lasso won 20 Emmy Awards, including back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actor In a Comedy Series trophies for Seasons 1 and 2.

Season 4 and a pending renewal

Ted Lasso returned for Season 4 on Aug. 5 after a break following its original three-season arc. The season began with Rebecca recruiting Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) to manage Richmond's second division women's football team. A fifth-season renewal is still pending.

On its Season 4 release date, Ted Lasso was the most-streamed program in the U.S. with more than 200 million viewing minutes, according to Nielsen. Separately, Waddingham will receive the Crystal Award for Advocacy in TV at the 2026 Women In Film Honors on Nov. 5 at The Beverly Hilton.
