HBO Orders Baldur's Gate Series From Craig Mazin
The show picks up where Baldur's Gate 3 ends and will be made with Hasbro Entertainment, according to Polygon.
HBO has announced a television series titled Baldur's Gate, with Craig Mazin serving as co-creator, writer, executive producer and showrunner, according to Polygon. The project is being made with Hasbro Entertainment.
The series' story picks up where Baldur's Gate 3 ends, and the show will feature both new characters and familiar faces from the game.
Chris Perkins, former head of creative for Dungeons & Dragons, will serve as an on-set consultant. Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur's Gate 3, says it is not directly involved in developing the show.
What comes next for the game's studio
Baldur's Gate 3 was praised for its story, characters and post-launch support. Larian Studios is now focusing on a different project, Divinity, rather than a new Baldur's Gate game, and Baldur's Gate 4 is not officially in development.
Mazin co-created HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us with Neil Druckmann and earlier created the miniseries Chernobyl.
