Helene Hahn Lloyd, a former executive vice president at Disney and one of the founding executives of DreamWorks, has died at 78, according to Deadline. Her management team said she died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Park City, Utah.
Lloyd lived in Park City with her husband, Charles "Chuck" Lloyd Jr., who died this July.
Born on July 13, 1948, in Westbury, New York, she graduated from Hofstra University in 1970 and from Loyola Law School in 1975. While studying at Loyola, she worked as a temp for Paramount Pictures, and in 1977 she returned to the studio as senior vice president.
In 1981, Lloyd became executive vice president at Disney, reportedly the highest position achieved by a woman in Hollywood at the time. Alongside Jeffrey Katzenberg, she helped solidify the studio's landmark partnership with Pixar.
In 1994, she became one of the first executives hired to build DreamWorks, later serving as its chief operating officer until her departure in 2004.
