VFX Veteran Hong Jae Cheol Maps AI Workflow at Busan Market
Hong Jae Cheol told the InnoAsia AI Creators Camp that film production is shifting from AI-generated images toward AI as part of a full workflow.
VFX veteran Hong Jae Cheol presented his vision for artificial intelligence in film production on Sunday at the InnoAsia AI Creators Camp, held during the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market, according to Variety.
Hong said the industry is moving away from using AI to generate individual images and toward treating AI as part of a complete production workflow.
He described an AI-assisted approach in which actors perform on a controlled set, AI generates environments and visual elements, and VFX artists handle tracking, integration and finishing.
Mark Wachholz, chief creative director of Dreamkite Studios, framed AI co-creation as giving up some control in order to allow for surprise. Director Ahn Jaehong of Climax Studio outlined an AI filmmaking workflow covering prompts, camera information, scene context, shot lists, storyboards, character and prop sheets, locations and keyframes.
