Amazon/MGM Enters I Play Rocky in Golden Globes Comedy Races
Peter Farrelly's film about Sylvester Stallone and the making of Rocky will compete in musical/comedy categories, not drama.
Amazon/MGM has submitted I Play Rocky, Peter Farrelly's film about Sylvester Stallone and the making of Rocky, for Golden Globes consideration in the musical/comedy categories, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which reported the classification exclusively.
The submission places the film in the genre-specific Globes categories rather than the drama field, a choice that shapes which races its cast and crew will enter.
Among those vying in the acting races is Ippolito, a cast member submitted for best actor in a musical or comedy.
Departure from the original
The decision marks a contrast with the film at the center of the story: Rocky, released in 1976, competed at the Golden Globes as a drama.
Amazon/MGM has not announced a release date for I Play Rocky.
