Iberseries & Platino Industria Expands B2B Focus for Sixth Edition
Madrid industry event Iberseries & Platino Industria returns for its sixth edition with new pitch sessions, AI workshops, and the world premiere of Spain's first generative AI feature, Pelagius.
Iberseries & Platino Industria, the Madrid-based industry event, is returning for its sixth edition with a sharper focus on B2B activities, according to co-director Samuel Castro. The event is expected to surpass last year's 2,500 accreditations.
New pitch sessions are being led by the Euro-Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch program, while meetings with screenwriters are organized with the SGAE Foundation and DAMA. Fourteen screenwriters from Recreas, DAMA's project incubator, will present projects selected from nearly 300 submissions.
New participants include BBC, Arte, AppleTV+, Telefe Argentina and Caracol TV. Around 220 buyers and 50 film commissioners are expected, with top-tier buyers including Amazon MGM Studios/Prime Video, Netflix, AMC Networks, Atresmedia, Banijay Entertainment, Canal+, Disney, Globo, Mediaset, Movistar Plus+ and ZDF Studios.
The event signed agreements with the SGAE Foundation and DAMA regarding AI, and a new AI Workshop for creators will be led by Concepción Diaz, Google's Head of AI Trainings EMEA. Pelagius, Spain's first feature made with generative AI, will world premiere at the event.
Pelagius is a 97-minute historical epic produced by Tiki Group, Elefantec Global and Recrea Films. Directed and produced by Miguel Asensio Llamas, it features animation with voices performed by Asturian actors and follows Asturian clans led by the titular Pelagius rising against the advancing Umayyad Caliphate.
