'In the Shadows' Producers Plan U.K. Self-Release After Distributor Collapse
The boxing biopic will premiere at the London Film Festival on October 9, 2026, then open on more than 30 U.K. screens from October 30.
The producers of the British boxing biopic 'In the Shadows' have arranged to self-release the film in U.K. cinemas after its distributor, True Brit Entertainment, filed for administration, according to Variety.
The film will have its world premiere at the London Film Festival on October 9, 2026. Following the premiere, it will screen on more than 30 U.K. screens, beginning with a special screening and Q&A on October 30 at London's Genesis Cinema.
Anthony Wonke directs, and Jasmine Jobson stars. Altitude Films is handling global sales, while Metis Films is handling physical distribution.
True Brit Entertainment filed for administration in late September 2026, and the producers learned in mid-September 2026 that there would be no money for the film's P&A spend.
The film is based on the true story of British-Somali boxer Ramla Ali, who became the first boxer to represent Somalia at the 2020 Olympic Games and took part in the first-ever professional female boxing match in Saudi Arabia.
