Gunn Defends Clayface, Denies Arjona Wonder Woman Theory

James Gunn pushed back on Threads over who asked for Clayface and said a theory tying Adria Arjona to Wonder Woman in the Superman sequel is wrong.

James Gunn defended the DC Studios film Clayface on Threads after a user questioned who had asked for the movie, and he denied a theory that Adria Arjona will play Wonder Woman in the Superman sequel. Tickets for Clayface went on sale, with the film set to open on Oct. 23.

Gunn pointed to Back to the Future, Casablanca, There's Something About Mary, Pan's Labyrinth, Fury Road, Weapons and The Matrix as films that nobody explicitly asked for, according to hollywoodreporter.com. He also said Mike Flanagan, followed by James Watkins and Hossein Amini, drew on a relatively little known fictional character for Clayface.

On the casting rumor, Gunn said Frank Grillo does not know who Adria Arjona is playing in the DCU, rejecting the Wonder Woman theory.

Gunn's role at DC Studios was reaffirmed after Paramount Skydance's acquisition of Warner Bros. He is executive producing The Batman: Part II and working on the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, after having turned the once seemingly un-makable Guardians of the Galaxy into a box-office hit.
