Empire unveils Jason Momoa as Hayt in Dune: Part Three

The new image shows Momoa as the genetically engineered Duncan Idaho replica opposite Robert Pattinson's Scytale. The film opens December 18, 2026.

Empire has revealed a new image of Jason Momoa as Hayt in Dune: Part Three, showing the actor in an outfit with a large white collar and a knife held at his throat, according to movieweb.com. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve and opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.

In the film, Momoa plays Hayt, a genetically engineered replica of Duncan Idaho, rather than the original Duncan. The character is presented to Emperor Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, by the antagonist Scytale, played by Robert Pattinson.

Momoa told Empire that playing Hayt felt nerve-wracking because he originally signed on to play a different character.

From Duncan to Hayt

Momoa's Duncan Idaho first appeared in Dune: Part One, released in 2021, in which the character dies defending Paul Atreides and Jessica from Sardaukar soldiers.

Dune: Part Three draws on Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah, published in 1969. The novel has never previously been adapted for the big screen.
