Jensen Ackles Pitches Supernatural Revival Idea at Charlotte Event

Jensen Ackles has revealed his own idea for a Supernatural revival. Speaking at Creation Charlotte 2026, the actor who played Dean Winchester described a scenario in which Jack—who became the new God in the show's final season—arrives in the afterlife to tell Sam and Dean they must return.

Ackles suggested new footage could be filmed with Alexander Calvert as Jack appearing during Sam and Dean's moment at the bridge in the series finale. In that finale, Dean died on a hunt, while Sam lived a long life before dying as an old man.

Supernatural debuted on September 13, 2005, and has been off the air since 2020. Despite fan interest, there are no concrete updates on a sixteenth season or any other revival.

Ackles remains busy with other projects. He is set to appear in new episodes of Tracker as Russel Shaw, and a Rules of Prey crime thriller series for MGM+ was recently announced. Vought Rising, a spinoff of The Boys, is scheduled for release in 2027.
