Eisenberg Says He Has Not Seen 'The Social Reckoning'

Jesse Eisenberg told Deadline he has not watched the film, in which Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg, and that he did not want to be associated with Zuckerberg again.

Jesse Eisenberg said he has not yet seen The Social Reckoning, the new film about Facebook, and explained that he did not want to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg again. He made the comments in an interview with Deadline about his own new film, The Debut.

Eisenberg said he loves the script of The Social Reckoning and loves its writer, Aaron Sorkin. He added that he did not want to do a year of press tied to the role, and that he is not a user of the platform and is not interested in that kind of technology.

The Social Reckoning stars Jeremy Strong as Zuckerberg — the role Eisenberg played in 2010's The Social Network — alongside Mikey Madison as whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as reporter Jeff Horwitz. Sony Pictures Entertainment released the film on October 9th.

Eisenberg wrote, directed and stars in The Debut, which also features Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti. The film premiered at Telluride on September 9 and is set for theatrical release by A24 on December 11th.

Earlier attempts to bring Eisenberg back

In June, Sorkin told Vanity Fair that he spent a three-day weekend trying to persuade Eisenberg to reprise the role. Earlier in October, Sorkin told Entertainment Weekly that he had assumed Eisenberg would return and that he was a couple of pages from finishing the script when he ran into him.

Eisenberg's 2024 film A Real Pain earned him a Best Screenplay Oscar nomination, with co-star Keiran Culkin winning Best Supporting Actor.
