Jesse Eisenberg discussed writing seven original songs for his film 'The Debut' at a Fox lot screening, with one song receiving a best original song awards push.
Jesse Eisenberg has written seven original songs for the central show in his film The Debut, with one of them, "This City May Have Chewed Me Up (But It Hasn't Spit Me Out)," receiving a best original song awards push, according to hollywoodreporter.com.
Eisenberg appeared at a screening on the Fox lot on Monday with composer Emile Mosseri and moderator Justin Hurwitz to discuss his songwriting process.
He said he is not classically trained and writes music on the piano or guitar, and that his songwriting ability is limited to musical theater style music.
The Debut follows a shy housewife played by Julianne Moore who is cast in a community theater production. The film hits theaters Dec. 11.
Earlier Collaboration
Eisenberg worked with Mosseri on the 2022 film When You Finish Saving the World, writing a song for Finn Wolfhard's character. Eisenberg said Mosseri told him the song was good if the character were doing musical theater music rather than rock music.
