Joachim Rønning has set up his next film, the horror movie System, with Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios. The project is currently in production in London.
Rønning is directing System from a script he co-wrote with his brother Andreas Rønning. He is producing through his banner The Saga Company.
Roy Lee and Steven Schneider are producing under a multi-title partnership between Spooky Pictures and Image Nation. Ben Ross and Rami Yasin serve as executive producers. UTA Independent Film Group arranged the financing and is representing sales.
The plot of System is not being disclosed, and the cast will remain under wraps.
Rønning most recently directed Tron: Ares. He broke out with the Academy Award-nominated Kon-Tiki, directed with Espen Sandberg, and went on to direct Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Young Woman and the Sea, all for Disney, as was Tron: Ares.
Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios have previously partnered on genre projects including Late Night with the Devil, Charlie Polinger's The Plague, Hokum starring Adam Scott, Casey Affleck's Company and Guy Nattiv's The Liberation. Most recently, the pair announced the SCP Foundation film V/H/S: SCP with A24.
