Joe Perry to Skip Hollywood Vampires Premiere for Aerosmith Rehearsals
Perry will miss the West Coast premiere of the documentary Unleashed Spirits at the Newport Beach Film Festival's sold out Lido Theater.
Joe Perry has announced he will not attend tonight's West Coast premiere of the documentary Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires at the Newport Beach Film Festival, according to Deadline. The Aerosmith guitarist and Hollywood Vampires co-founder said he cannot break away because Aerosmith is rehearsing for two upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows.
The screening is scheduled for 8 pm PT at the Lido Theater, which is sold out. The event listing had promised a live Q&A with director Daniel E. Catullo III and members of the Hollywood Vampires.
Perry attended the documentary's Boston world premiere on September 18. He and Hollywood Vampires bandmates Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Tommy Henriksen had just finished a two-month European tour.
Earlier in October 2026, Aerosmith announced two Hollywood Bowl shows for October 29 and November 1, 2026, their first performances together in three years. The band held a Las Vegas residency from 2019 to 2022.
The Hollywood Vampires were originally formed in the 1970s as a drinking gang for Cooper, Micky Dolenz, John Lennon, Keith Moon and Harry Nilsson. The current version came together in 2012 with Cooper, Perry and Depp, and the band made its live debut on the Sunset Strip in 2015.
