Justin Long Joins Jenna Ortega in Warner Bros. Drama Nasty
Long will play Rose Byrne's brother and the team's co-coach in Mary Bronstein's gymnastics drama, which starts shooting mid-November.
Justin Long has joined the cast of Nasty, the gymnastics drama that Mary Bronstein is directing for Clockwork, Warner Bros.' specialty label, according to hollywoodreporter.com. Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne star in the film.
Ortega plays a prodigious athlete fighting for a place on the Olympic gymnastics team and having to overcome her coach, played by Byrne as a maternal but manipulative and exploitative figure. Long will play Byrne's character's brother, the team's co-coach, who is popular with the gymnasts but has a hidden dark side.
Isabella Jarosz wrote the script. Tom Ackerley, Bronte Payne and Morgan Begg of LuckyChap produce alongside Ortega. Production is scheduled to begin in mid-November in New Orleans.
Jarosz's screenplay for Nasty appeared on the 2024 Black List. The project also reunites Byrne with Bronstein after Byrne's Academy Award-nominated performance in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, which Bronstein directed.
