Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige received the Pioneer of the Year award from the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation at a Beverly Hilton gala that raised $1.9 million.

Kevin Feige was honored as Pioneer of the Year by the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation at the Beverly Hilton on Wednesday, in a gala that raised $1.9 million for the Pioneers Assistance Fund.

Chris Pratt, Jon Favreau and Disney's Alan Bergman were on hand to honor the Marvel Studios president. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Bettany, Hailee Steinfeld, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and Louis D'Esposito sent video messages for the celebration, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pratt recalled auditioning for Feige many times before landing the role of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. He said he had previously tried out for Captain America and a supporting part in Thor without success.

Favreau spoke about his partnership with Feige dating back to 2008's Iron Man. Feige also noted that Avengers: Endgame Encore had returned to theaters the previous weekend, and said Avengers: Doomsday is Marvel's 39th movie.
