Kim Soo-hyun's side asks YouTube to shut down Gaseyeon channel

The actor's legal team cites YouTube's harassment and cyberbullying policy and a probe into allegedly false, AI-manipulated audio.

Actor Kim Soo-hyun's legal side asked YouTube on 6 October to close the Garo Sero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) channel, saying it violates the platform's harassment and cyberbullying policy, according to the JoongAng Ilbo.

The request followed an earlier demand this month to delete 30 related videos, the outlet reported.

Kim Soo-hyun's lawyer said the investigation confirmed charges of defaming and threatening the actor based on false evidence, including AI-manipulated audio.

Gaseyeon operator Kim Se-ui was arrested and indicted in June on charges of spreading false information and defaming Kim Soo-hyun across 25 YouTube broadcasts between March and December of last year.

Kim Se-ui is accused of spreading false claims that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor, and that debt repayment pressure from Kim Soo-hyun's side directly caused her death. In May, a press conference released recorded audio that police believe was manipulated using AI.

Work and public appearances

In July, Kim Soo-hyun filmed an overseas advertisement, and last month he attended a domestic music awards ceremony as a presenter.
