Korea, Sakha Producers Sign Co-Production Pact at Busan
The Producers Guild of Korea and the Sakha Filmmakers Association will share financing information and stage producer meetings under a new MOU.
The Producers Guild of Korea and the Sakha Filmmakers Association signed a memorandum of understanding at the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan on October 1, 2026, establishing a framework for co-production between Korean and Sakha producers.
The agreement covers project showcases, producer-to-producer meetings and B2B sessions, according to Deadline.
The two organizations also plan to take the partnership to international markets, including ACFM, Hong Kong Filmart and the Cannes Marché du Film.
Under the MOU, both groups will share information on public financing available in Korea and the Sakha Republic.
Wider partnership push
Since the pandemic, PGK has built a series of international partnerships, including MOUs with the Canadian Media Producers Association, the Hong Kong Film Production Executives Association, the Indonesian Film Producers Association and the Brazilian Audiovisual Industry Union. The Sakha Republic, also known as Yakutia, has developed one of Russia's most proactive film industries, making films mostly in the Sakha language and building a strong local theatrical audience.
