Lanterns Showrunner Hints at Earth-Based Season 2
Chris Mundy says the team is proud of season 1 and would welcome more, but HBO has not officially renewed Lanterns.
Chris Mundy, showrunner of HBO's Lanterns, has commented on the possibility of a second season, saying a follow-up would likely be another Earth-based story. HBO has not given the series an official green light for season 2.
Mundy told Entertainment Weekly that the team is happy and proud of season 1 and would be glad if there is more. He also said the writers approached season 1 assuming there would be a season 2, rather than writing it as a limited series.
The first season has ended, drawing largely positive reviews and strong viewership numbers, though it proved somewhat divisive among fans.
