Lauren Tsai and My Chemical Romance Release Stop-Motion Short The Dying World

The film is built around The End from The Black Parade and features voice cameos from Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers and Hideo Kojima.

Lauren Tsai has released a short stop-motion film made with My Chemical Romance, built around the song The End from the band's 2006 album The Black Parade, according to Polygon.

The story follows Astrid, who is sent into The Dying World after her sketchpad is thrown away. Tsai voices Astrid, and John C. McGinley voices the Dean.

The short also carries several voice cameos. Billie Eilish plays Astrid's friend and Phoebe Bridgers plays her sister, both heard in voicemails. Game director Hideo Kojima appears as Astrid's teacher in a voicemail about her late Japanese homework.

The release ties back to a longer history between the band and Kojima: in 2006, during The Black Parade era, he saw My Chemical Romance live and was complimented on his merch. Tsai, meanwhile, played a small role in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

My Chemical Romance broke up in 2013 and reunited in 2019; their current world tour marks the twentieth anniversary of The Black Parade.
