Korean director Lee Hwan-kyung is making Gasigogi with Falcon Pictures, led by Vino G. Bastian and Pevita Pearce.

Korean director Lee Hwan-kyung is directing the Indonesian father-son drama Gasigogi, which is now in production with Falcon Pictures, according to Variety. Falcon Pictures unveiled the cast together with Hwantasy Entertainment.

The film stars Vino G. Bastian in the lead and Pevita Pearce as co-lead, with Faradina Mufti playing Chitra and Indra Jegel also in the cast. The supporting cast includes Altaaf Akavi, Indro Warkop, Dea Panendra, Sadana Agung, Irma Novita Rihi, Luisa Adreena, Pritt Timothy, Verdi Solaiman and Kiki Narendra.

Gasigogi follows Jiwa, a father fighting to save his son Juna, who has blood cancer. The working title comes from the stickleback fish, used as a metaphor for fatherhood and parental sacrifice.

Lee called Gasigogi the most emotionally taxing film he has taken on and dedicated it to his son. He said the film is an original work that breathes with Indonesian lungs rather than a transplant of Korean feeling.

Background

Lee previously directed Miracle in Cell No. 7, which he made as a gift for his daughter. Vino G. Bastian starred in the Indonesian remake of that film, and Indro Warkop also appeared in it. Pevita Pearce is known for 5 cm and Faradina Mufti for Impetigore.
