Les Films du Jeudi Unveils Classic Film Restorations Ahead of Lyon Market

The lineup includes a 4K restoration of Jean Renoir's 1924 'Une vie sans joie' and Raymond Lamy's 'Miroir' with Jean Gabin.

Les Films du Jeudi has announced a lineup of classic film releases and restorations, including titles from Jean Renoir, Raymond Lamy, Pierre Gaspard-Huit and a Jean Becker comedy starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, according to Variety. The company shared the slate ahead of the Classic Film Market's Catalogue Holders' Premiere Presentation at the Lumière Festival in Lyon.

Leading the lineup is a new 4K restoration of 1924's 'Une vie sans joie' ('Catherine'), the first film attributed to Jean Renoir. The restoration was carried out in collaboration with the Cinémathèque Française and with support from the CNC. Tamasa will release the film in a DVD/Blu-ray box set and in theaters in 2027.

Les Films du Jeudi is also releasing Raymond Lamy's 1946 film 'Miroir,' starring Jean Gabin, to mark the 50th anniversary of the actor's death. Pierre Gaspard-Huit's 1954 crime drama 'Sophie et le crime' ('Girl on the Third Floor'), starring Marina Vlady, has received a 4K restoration and is being released as well.

Jean Becker's 1965 comedy 'Tendre voyou' ('Tender Scoundrel'), starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, rounds out the slate. Its release coincides with the film's exhibition at the Paris Cinémathèque Française as part of an ongoing Belmondo retrospective.

Vlady died on September 24 in Paris at the age of 88. Les Films du Jeudi was founded by producer Pierre Braunberger and owns a catalog of more than 400 films.
