Background

Lionsgate Studios separated from Starz in 2025. It has been the subject of takeover speculation over the past year, including a reported offer from Legendary Entertainment. Earlier this week the studio said Sony Pictures had come aboard as international partner and co-financier on Naruto, the film adaptation of the manga. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the next entry in the franchise, opens later this month; the quarter's motion picture results were driven by the ongoing contribution of Michael and continued library strength.
