Mackenzie Davis Says She Recorded Mister Miracle With Josh Hutcherson
The Big Barda voice actor says the animated DC Studios adaptation stays grounded in Tom King and Mitch Gerads' graphic novel.
Mackenzie Davis says she recorded her lines as Big Barda for DC Studios and Warner Animation's animated adaptation of Mister Miracle alongside Josh Hutcherson, who voices Scott Free. Davis discussed the role in an interview reported by bleedingcool.com.
Davis said she was cast after the studio reached out while she was filming in Newfoundland. She described the series as a beautiful, grounded adaptation of Tom King and Mitch Gerads' graphic novel, which deals with pain, depression, a marriage and a suicide attempt.
According to Davis, the show draws on King's graphic novel, which she said brought a lot of attention to Big Barda and Mister Miracle. She also said she would be open to playing Big Barda in live action.
Casting and the DCU's live-action plan
Earlier this month, DC Studios and Warner Animation cast Josh Hutcherson and Mackenzie Davis to voice Scott Free and Big Barda. Earlier this month, Tom King praised the casting on social media and compared the pair's chemistry to Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in HBO's Lanterns.
When James Gunn and Peter Safran first announced their plans, Gunn said actors voicing DCU characters in animated projects would also portray them in live action, with some exceptions.
