Marvelous and Kapa Studios Form Cross-Border Film and TV Partnership

The French and Greek companies will first co-produce Olivier Dahan's period drama Nana, an adaptation of Émile Zola's novel, before moving into series.

Marvelous Productions and Kapa Studios have announced a cross-border production partnership that will begin with a feature film and expand into television series and other projects, according to Variety. The deal is being announced at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, which runs from November 5 to 15.

The first project under the partnership is the period drama Nana, directed by Olivier Dahan and adapted from Émile Zola's classic novel. The film is supported by France Télévision, Canal+ and the CNC, and is co-produced and distributed by ARP in France and internationally. Arthur Cohen of Momentum Entertainment brokered the deal and serves as executive producer.

After Nana, the two companies plan to work together on a series, with further film and TV projects potentially to follow. Marvelous Productions founders Romain Le Grand and Vivien Aslanian commented on the partnership with Kapa, and Kapa Studios producer and CEO Giannis Karagiannis commented on working with Marvelous.

Studio capacity on both sides

Marvelous Productions was launched in 2017 by Le Grand and Aslanian, who spent 19 years together at the helm of Pathé. Since signing a first-look deal with Warner Bros., the company has produced or co-produced 15 films, including Dahan's Simone: Woman of the Century, a major French box office hit in 2022, and Bernadette, starring Catherine Deneuve, which was nominated for a César in 2024.

Kapa Studios has over 50 years of experience in the film industry and operates 12 sound stages totaling 250,000 square feet across 25 acres, having recently added two new 20,000-square-foot sound stages. Greece offers a 40% cash rebate for productions.
