Mckenna Grace Based Maysilee Look on 2011 Hunger Games Fan Film
A new featurette shows Mckenna Grace saying she studied MainstayPro's fan short and wore Maysilee's braid daily in pre-production.
Mckenna Grace looked to a fan-made short film to shape her take on Maysilee Donner in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, according to a new featurette posted on The Hunger Games Twitter page and reported by gamesradar.com. In the video, Grace said she watched the 2011 fan short repeatedly during her auditions for the role.
Grace also said she wore Maysilee's braid to pre-production every day in an effort to convince the filmmakers. She later told Stefania Barr, who played Maysilee in the fan film, that Barr shaped how people imagine the character.
The short in question is Hunger Games: The Second Quarter Quell, a 12-minute fan-made film that MainstayPro posted online in 2011.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set for release on November 20, 2026.
