MIA Market Launches European Investment Hub in Rome

Rome's MIA Market unveils the European Investment Hub, a two-day initiative with CAA and Media Capital Technologies to connect film financing tools and funds.

Rome's MIA Market is launching a new initiative called the European Investment Hub, conceived in collaboration with the European Commission, the European Investment Fund, the CineRegio network and Eurimages. MIA — Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo, or International Audiovisual Market — will run from October 19 to 23.

The hub will unfold during the first two days of the event, with panels, roundtables and advisory one-to-one meetings. Its focus is on financial tools such as European co-production funds, equity funds for content creation, completion bonds and risk-mitigation mechanisms.

Industry figures set to take part include Roeg Sutherland, co-head of CAA's media finance department and its international film group, and Raj Singh and Christopher Woodrow, principals of U.S. specialty finance company Media Capital Technologies.

A panel titled 'Unlocking Italy's Potential' will feature Singh, Sutherland and entertainment lawyer Steve Saltzman. Singh will also launch a new venture during a separate session aimed at expanding content creation financing opportunities.

Another panel, 'Equity and Growth Capital: Investing in Creativity, IP and Long-Term Value,' will include Woodrow, Celine Dornier and Alexandra Lebret. Funds discussed include those accessible to projects with budgets of €50 million and up, as well as lower-budget projects.
